Concrete Repair FAQ – San Diego

Common questions about concrete repair and restoration in San Diego. Call us at (619) 818-0113 for a free assessment.

Can you repair cracked concrete instead of replacing it?

In some cases, yes. Concrete repair is significantly less expensive than full replacement and can restore structural integrity and appearance. We assess each situation individually.  Minor to moderate cracking is typically repairable; severely heaved or collapsed slabs may require replacement.

What causes concrete to crack in San Diego?

Common causes include soil settlement, tree root intrusion, heavy vehicle loads, poor original installation, UV exposure, moisture cycling, and years of wear and tear. San Diego’s heavy soil shifting is a frequent contributor to slab movement and cracking.

How long does concrete repair last?

When done correctly with quality materials, concrete repairs can last 5-10 years or longer. The longevity depends on the type of repair, the underlying cause being addressed, and whether protective sealing is applied afterward.

Do you repair spalling concrete?

Yes. Spalling — where the concrete surface flakes or chips — is one of our most common repair jobs in San Diego. We grind, resurface, and seal the area to restore both appearance and durability. An additional, less expensive option is a concrete overlay. Concrete overlay is a thin layer applied to concrete to provide a refreshed look. The existing concrete will be shoveled, and a thin new layer of concrete will be applied to the surface.
